The history of some similar Designs:
In 1990 created the Omichron, sold 500 for $195.

In 1999 created the Omichron II, sold 300 for $225.

Now, the Color Changing Nouveau Aurora for $199; sold 210 so far.
What is it?

It's a color changing clock like the Aurora & Prisma.
It's very easy to read the time like the Omichrons.
How I walked into this backwards. Or how I got surprised.
When the design was just on paper I thought this would be a boring design, an uninteresting semi-normal clock. After all, my designs are far from normal.  But I was a little curious about how I would react to a clock that would have many more different shades of color than I have ever bothered doing before.  And when I drew up the electronics schematic I wanted to see if I could eliminate some parts that were in all my other designs, reducing the cost. And, an engineer friend of mine laid out the electronics circuit board so it was going to be less work for me.   All I had to do was to start programming.  So starting, I did – I'm beginning to talk like Yoda :-)).  The result.
So now every time I look over at this Nouveau Aurora I feel continuously surprised by the colors, especially in the evenings. They just bounce right out to you from the black face.  The colors are actually even more vivid than the Aurora & Prisma clocks. And like those clocks it is very peaceful to just watch.
Other Features:
Arrives set and running.  Just plug it in!
It has an soft sweet hourly chime like the Omichrons (chime can be turned off)
It has time keeping during power outages.
You can freeze it on your favorite color.
Has a brightness adjustment (primarily for the bedroom)
And one more Feature:  The Background Color has a Function:
Its color is an approximate second hand.
The background color progresses clockwise around the color-wheel.
And the hour color is always changing also. It's separated by 20 seconds on the color-wheel from the background color.
Here's a Size Comparison!
Time shown on Nouveau Aurora 8:14:00
Had to dim the photo to make the colors look right. That's an Aurora on the right.

Reading the Time

lt's simple. The one that's a different color is the hour, see the 9 o'clock position.

Then look for the white one in the clock ring, see it at 15 minutes.

Then look for whites, 0 to 4, in the middle, see 1 lit white so 16 mintues, for 9:16

And, if your weird like me, the aqua background is 30 seconds – approximately.

Design Goals, my early thoughts:

One goal was to create a very colorful clock for customers who love the Aurora.

And, I tried to join two ideas.

Customers who love my colorful art and want an easy to read clock.

I suspect a fair number of Nouveau Auroras may be used as a gift for friends.

My main frustration is how hard it is to catch the colors well in a simple video
